Definitely head as far over the border as you can GC. A small pulse of SSE windswell is around the place tomorrow morning, and with winds expected to be WSW at dawn, becoming SW/S as the day goes on, get in early and pick your most super exposed south facing beach you can find over the border. Don't expect much more than 2ft tops at these beaches mind you. Likely to be some small and very very inconsistent E groundswell in the 1-2ft size mixed in with it.
Hope ya find something.

Georgey, you may be good at picking surfers in Fantasy surfer, but why did you go to Currumbin when there's only a small S swell running?
Check out the swell on the horizon mind you!!!

If I were you guys, I'd be hitting up your favourite S swell magnet tomorrow morning, as I reckon there might be a few fun ones around the place. Nothing huge, but the very inconsistent 3ft set might occasionally appear by the looks of the wave buoy this arvo.
Winds have already gone WSW/SW at the bottom end of the Goldy and should follow suit up the top end shortly I'd say as the temp drops below the 12-13 deg mark.
Cause after tomorrow, she's all down hill rather rapidly with nothing noteworthy on the horizon for a while yet.
If Gaz hadn't given me his bloody flu, then I'd be at a certain swell magnet at the bottom end of the coast tomorrow morning for sure.

So did anyone get some fun waves this morning?
Conditions looked super clean and it looked as though there was the occasional nice 3ft set (at the more exposed locations), although as per usual the banks north of Burlz looked crap.
lollipops and laughalots

After a 3:30 wake up surfed North Wall Ballina for 3hrs. Super clean 4ft with odd 5ft rogue. Pretty nice shape but a little fat even on the lower tide.

pitty about hick locals putting a camera ban outYeah I can understand that, cause it's not like it's been photgraphed much over the last few months!!!! Locals.........
They're getting a bit defensive down that way since drive times from Qld have dropped with better roads + surf cams in places.

sure aint. just hick yocalsI see ya still snapped off a few pics (http://www.swellnet.com.au/sessions.php?session=Rebounding_on_the_North_Coast _130807.php) from way back up in the dunes SCB!!

13/08/2007, 01:13 PM
haha i got heaps more earlier from the rock wall, but then got barred by a group of local hicks, so i had to go sniper style from the dunes

Hate to break it to ya SCB but we scored even better that morning, 3-4 foot lefthand wedges at a certain backbeach south of the river.. with a crowd of 3 people. Those pics are deceiving cos there was a shit load of cunts on it when we where there and it was pretty weak. On the way back nth wall had easy another foot on illuka too.
sunnycoastbooger
14/08/2007, 08:22 AM
so u seen iluka? cause it was alot bigger in the morning. i have alot of better shots, which im not willing to put up on the net
Donweather
14/08/2007, 08:34 AM
Have you seen the shots of Bede Durbidge at Iluka in this months ASL? Absolute perfection (and I don't understand how the hick locals can be upset with you SCB, given that ASL spatter it over their glossy mag regularly and certainly name it most times!!!).
paulo
14/08/2007, 11:55 AM
yeah i knew it woulda been bigger in the morning, cos it dropped pretty quick, but fuck it was crowded for a wednesday and I still think nth wall woulda been even better early. but yeah, ive been haseled a few times by the hicks down there.. most of em dont like the boogas when ive spoken to em, aparently cos some booger said on a dvd that he uses illuka as his 'training ground' for pipe. its almost worth just parking in the big carpark and walking down the track, cos if they see ya at your car with QLD plates they arent afraid to have a go at ya
sunnycoastbooger
14/08/2007, 02:38 PM
they were being ok with the qld cars. They were just going nuts at anyone with a camera. Apparently someone had a knife pulled on them the week before. Yeh the big carpark is good, only problem is u cant see ur car and they could trash it pretty easily
Donweather
14/08/2007, 02:50 PM
Isn't that what girlfriends and wifes are for? To stay in the car while you go for a surf and ensure the car doesn't get trashed!!!!
paulo
14/08/2007, 04:36 PM
nah don, they are to make sure you cant get away early, you have to stop every 20mins for them to piss/drink/eat, to ensure you arrive 15 mins after the wind is up and then winge about the cold..
ha your missus still comes?
Mine hasn't been for a couple of years, she been burnt too many times.

Back home George
NOt worth staying around as it was blowing a SE and not looking like changing and I had to get back to work.
Best thing though, Virgin have given me a free flight to sydney (one way) to use in the next year...so I am gunna head down when there is a swell and decent winds happ'nen for a daytrip with one of my mates who regularly does an Ulla run when its on.
Nearly as exciting as the runs to the Ballina Pie shop!!
Donweather
14/08/2007, 08:12 PM
Still a pretty impressive day trip from Sydney to Ulla Gaz!!!
george
14/08/2007, 08:13 PM
hmmm Day trip hey... Keep me in the loop.....
I should have some money to spend at a pie shop by then......
Gary B
14/08/2007, 08:21 PM
Yeah, takes about 3.5hrs in good traffic.
Sure Georgey, no worries.
The best Pie shop in the world is in a small town just north or Mollymook called Milton. The Rainbow Pie Shop.
Peeps drive from Sydney and Canberra just for a pie and a coffee..
Oh yeah, they also have damn fine coffee too.
