Hi , i am just about to buy a couple of mini-mals and would like an honest opinion on buying from one of the local shops here in surfers.
Are they really locally made or are they chinese imports etc etc ?
I would appreciate any reply..thnx

If the shop has a shaper, then talk to him. If the shop doesn't have a shaper out the back.....I would go somewhere else. I've heard that Singapore is now even pumping out surfboards for the Australian market.

Why mini mal? You'll only want to get a shortboard eventually anyway.

its a bit easier to paddle a mini-mal ..after having my chest cracked open last year i am still not as strong in the chest as i use to be..so the less i have to paddle the better..besides..i look too old to be riding on a short board ...hehe:D

Never too old to ride a short board. Just ask Gaz....for an old fart, he certainly rips it up on a short board!!!

Fair enough, but I've mucked around on one and they are almost impossible to turn, bit off putting.

I reckon a larger shortboard (7ft+) might be a great paddler and more responsive.

I calling you back from the edge mang, Mini Mal's don't do it

Ditch the mini mals mate. If you want a board with enough float for easy paddling ,that still turns, get a local shaper to knock you up a fish. Definitely don't buy a board in Surfers, the bastards in that hole will rip you off.

i just want to catch a few 1 - 3 foot waves ..nothing big without too much effort...my missus wants a board as well ...funny how when they finally stand up on a surfboard ...its like a drug and then they are hooked...

so why surfers, when there's so many better options a half hours drive away? even 15 minutes will get you to that bros neilsen store on the highway, and their upstairs is chock full of all kinds of boards...
