Alright Surf Pros, I need your expertise! We're planning a back packing trip along Oz's East Coast for next year. Ideally doing the "hostel" thing along the coast exploring several surf spots. We'll be flying into Brisbane and heading out from there.

Any tips on where to stay?

And my BIG question, anyone have an idea of how to strap a Board to a backpack for walkin? All I've come across so far are the BoardBags with handles, which would be pretty uncomfortable after some miles!

Thank you for your help! I'm psyched for this trip, but feel VERY "out of my element" as it's my first international surf trip!

Hey, backpacking with a board would be hard I reckon. Not sure how many lifts you would get here.

Why not buy a shit box (cheap car) for while you're here? Australia's a big place and you'll wish you had one after about an hour on the road.

If you're taking the trouble to come all the way down here at least do it properly.

The Rocklea Trots are one hell of an event that any tourist should not miss.

Buy a car, get a map of the east coast and drive. Simple really.
If you want to surf then do as I have said above,
if you want to be like all the other back packing scumbags then bas it to byron and grow dreads and twirl firesticks, then hit up the eastern suburbs of sydney.
For surf though, don't ask for directions to spots, get a map and work it out ya self...no one likes a lazy tourist.

Buy a car mate and a map and you can't go wrong. Someone to do your trip will cost you $500.

Actually I know a good surf forecaster that will provide daily surf forecasts of the east coast for ya for a similar fee!!!
