Have any of you lot been riding older style boards of late? It seems to be more and more popular these days which is great to see.
On Sunday I rode a early eighties Les Purcell thruster. Thick as a plank and stable as a rock. Great fun.

but could you put it on a rail and turn it? I don't ride old boards except on really crowded points and depending on how beat up the board is, everyone just gets the fuck out of your way.

Sounds like a good plan. The old Les Purcell certainly doesn't perform like my normal board (HIC) but on those sloppy days it's a good buzz. I would compare it to trying to drive fast in a 30 year old VW Beetle. It's good fun but it ain't no Porsche. Besides, I'm getting older now and the thicker the better these days.

I have an early 80's Pipedream thruster - thick and wide and pretty flat (sounds like the type of chicks Booger would score with)......fun to ride if a bit lacking in performance at times.
Also used to have a Les Purcell/Sky - trashed it skurfing at cable ski world years ago - peeled the bottom in two halves from nose to tail!! :(
