I am spending 2 grand to convert my 2000 VT SS to gas, I'll save about 85 cents al itre should recoup the conversion cost within 12 months and by then petrol will probably be 1.50 a litre.

Fuel has a tax on a tax. Theres a fuel tax and then they put GST on top of that, fark knows why.

beachbum - my Mrs shops at Coles, they do vouchers for Shell, my nearest servo is a Shell. I agree with what you are saying though as it is completely false economy to spend 10 minutes going between servo's just to save 4 cents when you probably just wasted $5 worth of juice.

the sooner car companies begin mass producing hydrogen, electric etc. cars the better. The problem with lowering the tax on petrol is that the money is being used somewhere. Cutting that tax would either mean raising a different tax or cutting budgets to compensate. From an environmental POV lowering the tax would result in higher levels of pollution. IMO petrol vehicles need to be phased out and alternatives introduced. Oil cartles are fvcked.

i wanna buy a cheap four banger hatch, then convert it too LPG. But the 2grand u pay for the conversion, could go towards fuel. Although you would probably make an extra grand on resale. If you save $10 everytime u fill up, then i would have to fill up 100 times. Which is about two years worth.
